Development of Drive Thru devices for COVID-19 testing by AtGen

The agenda allowed for sample collection through the Drive Thru mechanism with coordination of date and time, correctly identifying the person prior to sample collection.

Requirements

The goal to curb the advance of the coronavirus is to avoid contagion as much as possible, which is why the drive-thru mechanism that the ATGen laboratory implemented since April 2020 was vital.

AtGen corresponde a un laboratorio privado de Uruguay, el primero en realizar test COVID-19 y el primero en incorporar el denominado auto-test, que utiliza la modalidad Drive-Thru.

Solution

The drive-thru modality is developed by fast food chains and was adapted to perform COVID-19 diagnosis. The system consists of the person who needs to undergo COVID-19 testing driving to a sample collection center in their vehicle, where healthcare personnel, acting with strict biosecurity measures, perform a nasal swab through the car window. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

The high demand for testing from individuals, as well as from different public or private health institutions, led to the installation of a chatbot system connected to the web agenda system of Genexus Consulting.

The agenda allowed for sample collection through the Drive Thru mechanism with coordination of date and time, correctly identifying the person prior to sample collection.

K2BHealth had developed an agenda system, which was adapted to the requirements of that moment:

  • MSP (Ministry of Public Health) data necessary for the swab were added.
  • Mercado Pago (payment platform) was integrated to collect payment from individuals getting tested privately.

Technologies and tools

GeneXus Consulting implemented the software with all the necessary architecture and security requirements.

The solution was developed using K2BTools patterns and integrates accessibility and information security.

Results

Over 28,000 studies were conducted remotely using the drive-thru mechanism.
