On one hand, the National Electronic Health Record plays a key role in ensuring continuity of care for Uruguayans. It is also connected to the Coronavirus App, created specifically for the pandemic, which provides information on the progression of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients.
On the other hand, it became necessary to develop a system to minimize one of the most concerning risks: the saturation and collapse of the healthcare system. Outbreaks pose a major threat, especially when they occur in places like nursing homes. Having access to information about the health conditions of these facilities, along with a registry of volunteer healthcare workers ready to meet demand across the country, proved essential in managing and controlling the outbreak.
In this talk, together with Salud Uy, we want to share the path we've taken and highlight the key aspects for delivering efficient care in times of crisis.
